Partnership Announcement | Region Sides moves to Ballarat
Bowls Victoria is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with the City of Ballarat, which will see the 2024 Region Sides event hosted in Ballarat.
The move to beautiful Ballarat will be an opportunity for the region to show of their bowling facilities as well as the city itself.
Ballarat is Victoria’s largest inland city. Just 75 minutes west of Melbourne, Ballarat is the perfect blend of art, culture, food, wine and attractions all set against an iconic heritage backdrop, ‘where old meets new’.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said it was exciting for the city. “It is attracting events like the Bowls Victoria 2024 Regions Sides Championships that cements Ballarat’s national reputation as a sports events destination.”
“We are thrilled to welcome the event to Ballarat and we look forward to seeing many hundreds of visitors throughout the city. As a Council we have invested heavily in our sporting facilities over many years, and that puts us in a strong position to attract events like this.”
Of the move, BV General Manager, Commercial Operations, Andrew Haug is excited to be bringing one of the highest profile events on the Bowls Victoria calendar to the Ballarat region. “With its central location together with a wide range of accommodation options, and extensive list of restaurants, cafes and tourism attractions, the City of Ballarat is the perfect choice to host the Region Sides Championships in 2024”.
“With a long-standing history of hosting some of the country’s largest and most significant events, we know the bowls fraternity and their families will look forward to immersing themselves in all that Ballarat has to offer and calling the region home for the Region Sides Championships for many years to come”.
While new host venues are still to be confirmed, we’re sure the greens and hospitality that bowlers will receive in Ballarat, as well as the new date on the calendar, will be something to look forward to.
The 2024 Region Sides event will take place across the weekend of 13th – 14th January, 2023, in Ballarat.
We thank our major partner, Moama Bowling Club, and Echuca Bowls Club, for being wonderful hosts of the Region Sides in recent years.
