Comprising of 6 fast-paced rounds in multiple formats over 3 days, the VBL will bring you high intense action brought to you by the very best bowlers from around Victoria and beyond with $43,000 up for grabs!

EVENT FORMAT & SCORING โ
- An easy-to-understand, fast-paced format that presents as an attractive offering for live streaming.
- 5-a-side, with rotating formats (Pairs and Triples, then Singles and Fours).
- Squads of up to 8 players are permitted, but of the 5 taking to the green, 3 must be Victorian registered bowlers.
- VBL1 will include 8 teams, split into 2 sections of 4. The 2 group winners plus the 2 runners up will progress through to a finals day.
- Moving to future years, consideration will be given to expand teams, hub clubs and the finals series, with the aim to have hub clubs spread across the State.

THE LINEUP
Brighton is led by the evergreen Russell Green Jr. Former Australian Rep, Green Jnr has seen it all, winning an AO Pairs, State Champ of Champs, Singles and Fours, and 100+ games for Victoria in his time. This flexibility will be vital if the Blue Devils are to go all the way.
Next up is a stack of current Vic State Side talent in Dean O’Neill, Brendan Gallagher and Thor Shannon. Deano and Brendo form a formidable backend for the Vic Thunder, and are also part of the BA Pathway Jackaroo Squad. Thor Shannon, who seems to be winning everything in recent years, will look to showcase his skills on the big VBL stage.
Ben Hubber & Scott Mortimer add some excellent depth to this competitive side, both skipping rinks in Premier league last season. Scotty is a former State Rep across all age levels including U30 Singles chamion. Hubs has won State Pairs and multiple Region title as well as two Premier League flags. Both players have been around the top of the Victorian bowls scene for a number of years and will look to add the VBL title to their huge list of achievements.

THE LINEUP
Starting with ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ, the current 2022 AO Pairs Runner Up with mate Ben Winther, Spurry has played over 100 State Games for Victoria, winning the Alley Shield in 2016 and 2018. He’s a current Skip in the Melbourne Premier Team, winning back to back Flags. His AO pairs partner ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ plays UBC for Whittlesea, and was a Skip in this year’s Northern Gateway Region side title win.
Then comes ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ ๐๐น๐น๐๐น, another 100+ State Representative (played across 2 x States), winning with Vic in 2018. Matt’s won multiple State Titles plus 3 x Premier League Flags and skips alongside Spurr at Melbourne.
Adding more depth to the squad is ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฐ ๐ช๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด, a winner of multiple Region Titles and also a Premier League Skip. Joining these household names are ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ & ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฒ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ โ local and very handy Dandy Club players, now getting an opportunity to showcase their skills on a big stage. Beecroft joined the club recently & has already made an impact on the top side’s front-end, and Daly is a premiership player likely to be another with strong front-end claims.
THE LINEUP
Led by none other the man himself, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐, a former Jackaroo who won Gold in the 2006 Comm games & holds a multitude of titles across the International and National game. His experience at playing in the BPL will be immense in the inaugural VBL.
Heโll be joined by the coach of the Deer Park BC, ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐๐๐ต. Bushy is one of the best singles players in the State, having collected a State Singles title, State Champion of Champions title and the prestigious Newborough Singles in recent years. Heโll also be strong in the team format, having skipped for Victoria.
๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ-๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ adds some all-round skill and style to the team, having won medals across multiple formats. A Gold in the Fours at the Australian Champs adds to multiple State Singles titles and success at the Vic Open in the same format in 2019. New to Deer Park Club this season, heโll be looking to hit the ground running.
Current Vic State Rep ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ is next. The man known as Snorkel is one of the Vic’s most consistent players, and boasts multiple State titles, an Australian Open Fours gold and a Vic Open Mixed Pairs title on his resume.
๐ง๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ has the made move up from Geelong as one of Deer Park BC’s new recruits. A Region Representative, he has won over 10+ Pennant Premierships titles in his time and made multiple region finals. Heโll be one to watch!
Finally, the King of Green at Deer Park last season, ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐ต๐๐ฒ rounds out the side. Last year’s Club Champion, Larry went on to win the Metro West Champ of Champs title. Another who’s been a regular in the Region Sides, heโll be keen to strut his stuff at Moama.
THE LINEUP
Current Club Singles and Former Scottish and Queensland Singles Champion ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป will lead the way for the Steamers. The big Scotsman will be hoping to put on a good performance in front of the home crowd.
Next up is Victorian U18 champion ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป who has recently joined the club. This will be Camโs competitive debut in Moama colours, and we are looking forward to seeing this young superstar in action.
Country Rep ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐น will also be in the squad, a fantastic young draw bowler who on his day can match it with anyone. Another up-and-coming star from Moama who will be looking to make an impression on the big stage.
Bradโs father ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐น, a former State player, adds experience to the side. Peter has an abundance of big event play, and will be looking to utilise his experience to fire the Steamers to victory.
Current Region Singles champion ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ๐ป, fresh off selection in the State Disability squad, joins the team. Barry will be looking to continue where he left off last season with some scintillating displays in Pennant and a fantastic effort reaching the last 8 of the State Singles.
Young superstar and new Moama recruit ๐ข๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ adds depth into the Steamers side. As an U18 State Rep, Oliviaโs picked up a multitude of titles in both State and National levels. Liv is now a Vic Lightning State Side Rep.
*Finally, on the bench for the Steamers are ๐ฅ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ and ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ. Pending Pennant commitments, these 2 legends and superstars of the sport will be sure to raise the profile of the VBLโs inaugural event.
THE LINEUP
Spearheaded by local legend ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ โ 2 x Club Champion at Traralgon, 8 x Region title winner (across all formats), showcasing his adaptability which will be key in the fast paced 5-a-side VBL.
Heโs joined by a plethora of Victorian talent, with current State Rep ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ข๐ฟ๐ฟ leading the charge. Orry, who skipped his rink to a State Fours title victory in 2020, has won multiple Vic Open titles, taking out the coveted Vic Medal for best player in 2014. A legend of the Goulburn Murray region, heโll be looking to go well in his short trip up the road to Moama.
Another current Vic Thunder player joining the Lyrebirds is ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐. โPhelpsyโ is one of the best singles players in the State, winning the State title in 2021, and taking out the highly competitive Richmond Masters Singles in 2016. Add this to previous State titles in other formats and 2 x Premier League flags in 3 years!
Current Pathway Jackaroo ๐ง๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ฒ adds some flair to the side. Fresh from playing 3rd to the โGOATโ last year, Cromie comes with a myriad of U18 National and State titles to his name, playing over 50 games for the big โVโ along the way. Heโs collected his fair share or Region titles also, making it to 3rd place with his Dad and brother in 2021.
And finally, a man who needs no introduction, ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป rounds off this strong side. Brad has an Australian Pairs title to his name, after blowing away the competition in 2020. Another with multiple Vic Open titles under his belt, Brad will bring some versatility to this side, as heโs handy at playing all positions.
Watch out for these Lyrebirds, they could go all the way!
THE LINEUP
Leading the charge for the Storm is a trio of current Vic State side players in ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐, ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ and newly capped Victorian ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ.
Lisa comes with a rich resume, having represented Australia in the past. Sheโs won a multitude of titles including two AO Singles and a Triples. Sheโs also won it all at State level, with six State titles to her name and has represented the Big V since 2012. Her versatility will be a big asset to the Storm.
Jess Wallace has been skipping in Premier League for Lilydale for many years and has used that experience to pick up two bronze medals at National level, after winning Vic State titles; Champ of Champs Singles in 2017 & and Mixed Pairs in 2019. Currently skipping in the State side she will be looking to make her mark on the VBL.
Then thereโs Cass Millerick, whoโs recently made the move to Victoria and has seamlessly slotted into the State side. She comes with a bag of titles, including National Pairs in 2021, and State titles galore in Queensland. Sheโs an exceptional Singles player, and current Victorian Champ of Champs Singles title holder and will be going for gold at the Nationals in October.
Joining the team and adding some big event experience will be two more Victorians (in current exile in QLD), ๐๐ต๐น๐ผ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ & ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ. Chloe is a current Jackaroo, who has won several titles on the National stage, preceded by a long list of junior Victorian State titles including Singles in 2011, multiple AO gold, and was named U18 bowler of the year in 2014. Sheโs also bagged two BPL winnerโs medals for the Tweed Ospreys, and that experience will be vital in the Stormโs challenge for VBL gold. Her clubmate Kira has also won multiple Vic U18 State titles including Singles, Pairs, Mixed Pairs & Triples, and has played in the BPL. Kira will be looking to add the VBL to her impressive resume that includes, like her teammate Chloe, U18 Bowler of the year.

THE LINEUP
The Bulls have gone for a mix of club talent and a splash of local legends. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ผ๐๐น๐ฒ๐, a 7-time Premiership winner at the Warrambool Bowls Club kicks things off, with a Region Triples title and multiple Club Championships to his name.
Heโs joined by fellow West Coast Region Rep, ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฒ๐น ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น, who has won a host of local Premierships as well as Club Championships. Well-known Bowls Co-ordinator, ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐น ๐ขโ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐น๐น is next, bringing his experience from winning a State title in 2017 and multiple West Coast Region side campaigns with him.
๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ adds some firepower to the Bulls. Heโs won many a Singles title, including an U25 Tasmanian title, as well as multiple Premierships at the Bulls.
The local players will be aided by ๐ฅ๐ต๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ณ๐ & ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐. Rhys was a Champion of Champions State title winner in 2020, turning that into a bronze at the Nationals event, and has a host of Region titles on his resume. Young gun Brad Pavey adds some real class and form to this franchise, going deep in State events and State Pennant as skip last year, as well as representing Victoria at U25 level this month.
The Bulls will be be looking to show the West Coast of the state mean business!
THE LINEUP
The doggies are going with a homegrown line-up, led by State skipper ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ต๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐. โPidgeโ has almost won it all in bowls, with an Alley Shield and State titles in the Pairs, Triples and Fours. Heโs in red hot form and loves to perform on the big stage.
Joining him are fellow Premier League skips ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐น๐ฒ๐, ๐ก๐ฒ๐น๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น and ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐. โWinnieโ has a giant bag of titles, including Vic Open Pairs and last year’s State Triples (with Pidge). Reigning Club Champion Nelson has won a stack of Region titles, has skipped his Region and has won a Premier League Flag in his time. โHankโ is a legend of the Victorian game, winning an Australian Open Triples title, 3 x State titles and has played over 300 games for Victoria.
Rounding off the side as a standout from last year’s Premier League season is ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ธ๐. James has been at the club for 8 years, winning a club championship and has played in multiple Region sides campaigns.
The Doggies will be a tough nut to crack knowing each other’s games very well, and you can be assured not many will be working harder to win.
