Partnership Announcement – Club Sunbury new home of junior bowls
Bowls Victoria is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with Club Sunbury – the new home of junior bowls in Victoria for at least the next 2 years.
In line with their existing focus on junior bowls, this new partnership will see Club Sunbury hosting a range of U/18 events including the Doug Kneebone Tournament, State trials, and all U/18 home Interstate Series.
While this is a change from recent history, which has seen junior events hosted in Regional areas, Bowls Victoria is confident that this partnership is a step in the right direction for the future of our young talent.
Club Sunbury’s General Manager Andrew Breeden-Walton stated, “Club Sunbury is proud to be one of Victoria’s greatest supporter of junior bowls, and over the past five years we have worked to create a facility and environment that will accelerate the progression of young bowlers within our community”.
The Club’s indoor green can operate 24/7 and includes the latest technology which will only enhance the experience gained by our U18’s. The state-of the-art concourse area which looks out over the green is a perfect area for friends, family and supportive Club Sunbury members to enjoy watching the highest standard of junior bowls.
In addition to the wonderful facilities that will be on offer to juniors at Club Sunbury, there will be the added benefit of U/18 Head Coach Matt Flapper taking up a position in the new Melbourne Extreme, based out of Club Sunbury, in BPL 14. Junior access to elite pathways has never been greater.
Lloyd Iaccarino, Bowls Coordinator at Club Sunbury, said “with recently announced U18 Head Coach being none other than our BPL Team, Melbourne Extreme superstar, Matt Flapper, we believe this exciting partnership will see a clear pathway from junior, grass-roots level bowls, to the elite Premier League level. We are proud that Melbourne Extreme will boast an all Victorian-Club line-up in BPL 14.”
Bowls Victoria and Club Sunbury collectively look forward to a successful partnership over the years ahead, as we work together to develop the future generation of bowlers in Victoria.
