Darebin City Bowls Club Plans Special Event for a Cause
On Sunday 28 October 2018, Darebin City Bowls Club will host a very special ‘Barefoot Bowls for a Cause’ event as part of Bowls Victoria’s Bowls Month initiative. On Sunday 28 October 2018, Darebin City Bowls Club will host a very special ‘Barefoot Bowls for a Cause’ event as part of Bowls Victoria’s Bowls Month initiative. The enjoyable and charitable afternoon activity has three main purposes: to introduce new people to the great game of bowls; gain new memberships; and to assist an organisation in need.
Darebin City Bowls Club holds an annual fundraiser at the venue and last October put on a wonderful event for two local animal rescue groups.
This year proceeds from the day will go to the Good Samaritan Inn, a not-for-profit organisation providing support for women and children experiencing family violence and homelessness.
“I nominated our annual Bowls Club fundraiser to be held for this organisation which provides short term emergency accommodation for women and children escaping family violence and homelessness,” explains Anne Greening, a member of Darebin City Bowls Club as well as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Inn.

Highlights of the Barefoot Bowls for a Cause event include:
Barefoot bowling with lunch provided.
Drinks can be purchased in the bistro at bar prices.
Raffles with 10 prizes all donated by local businesses.
“Attendees will enjoy some exercise, have a load of fun and possibly win a great prize,” Anne says. “Everyone who comes along will be donating funds and helping out a very worthwhile cause.”
Target market
“Anyone in the community who would like to come along and participate are most welcome to join us,” she says. “No previous experience is required as bowling is a fun, casual game and our Club members will be there to assist any new bowlers.”
