Victoria v NSW Test Series 2017
Victoria’s women and Under 25 men have won their annual Test series for 2017 against NSW – the women overcoming star-studded opposition.
Victoria’s women had the best-of-three series wrapped up with two great Test wins on the opening night of the series. Tiffany Brodie’s four beat world champion Karen Murphy’s outfit 25-11, helping the Vics to a 59-51 first Test win.
Then two wins to Brodie and Brooke Edwards’ rink and a draw (Nic Shortis) secured the series for Victoria with a 53-46 second Test triumph at the impressive new undercover facility at Merimbula’s Club Sapphire.
But NSW hit back with strong wins on all rinks in the third Test, running out massive 83-32 winners for Victoria to claim a 2-1 series win.
Victoria’s under 25 men secured a countback win by a shot in their first Test, then won the second to seal their series. Singles wins by Brad Foote (Mentone Edge) and Nathan Lynch (Moonee Valley) in each Test spearheaded the victory.
They dropped their third Test to win the series 2-1.
But Victoria’s national champion men couldn’t get the job done against a NSW side featuring multiple Jackaroos, dropping the second Test with a narrow 64-60 defeat after losing the opener, and then defeated in the third Test for a NSW clean sweep.
Victoria’s Under 25 women also lost their series 3-0.
