Statement – Saturday Metro Pennant incidents

by Team BV

Bowls Victoria is currently investigating two separate allegations of potential disciplinary matters arising from incidents during the weekend’s Melbourne Metropolitan Pennant competition.

These are separate, non-related incidents, which occurred on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
One incident is alleged to have occurred in a Division 2 match at Glenroy Bowls Club involving West Coburg and Glenroy, and the other in a Division 3 match between Sunshine VRI and Werribee played at Sunshine VRI Bowls Club.
Bowls Victoria has commenced a disciplinary process that requires reports and information from players, clubs and witnesses in both cases.

“We do not condone this type of behaviour and if there is any violent or unsportsmanlike behaviour proven to have occurred and attributable to identified persons, Bowls Victoria will punish the perpetrators to the full extent of our powers,” Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge said.
“There is no room for these sort of incidents and this sort of behaviour in our sport.”
Under its regulations, Bowls Victoria has the ability to suspend players involved in matters associated to this type of misconduct.
