Thornton joins the BV team

by Melanie Allen

Bowls Victoria is excited to announce the appointment of Josh Thornton to the role of Participation Coordinator.

A former Bowls QLD and Bowls Australia team member, Josh will be known to many as an elite bowler who represented Australia at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, taking home gold in the Para-Sport B6/B7/B8 Open Triples.

Josh comes to BV having previously been a Regional Bowls Manager, servicing clubs across North East Victoria and Western and Far Western NSW. Having sat on the BA National Development Advisory panel, his input into the strategic direction of the Bowls Australia RBM initiative was instrumental in getting the program to where it is today.

Currently completing his Masters of Sport Management & Business, Josh brings a diverse range of skills and prior experience, as well as his elite bowls ability, to the BV team. His background will greatly assist the Participation Team to continuously improve on our high quality participation objectives to enable more people to play more bowls, more often.

Josh was honoured to be twice nominated for Outstanding Achievement in the Young Australian of the Year Awards (1999 & 2000), among his many other sporting achievements.

Bowls Victoria congratulates Josh Thornton on his appointment and wishes him well in the new role. He will commence at the end of September 2020.
