Are you a para bowler looking be get classified, or a B5/8 bowler looking to better your game?

Para Bowlers from across the State are invited to come together for the next open training day, which will also incorpate the final classification opportunity for 2023.

WHEN: Sunday 19th November
WHERE: Club Sunbury
TIME: 10:00am

The day will consist of training and drills designed to improve your bowls, coaching opportunities, and some fun competition throughout the day.

In addition to the open training day, a classification session will be conducted. Any bowlers who wish to compete in Para-Physical and Integrated events are required to be classified as a “bowler with a disability”, recognised by International Bowls for the Disabled (IBD).

For those not yet classified, this is a perfect opportunity to take the plunge, with the upcoming annual Colac Integrated Triples Tournament just around the corner (3rd December), followed by the Berwick Integrated Pairs Tournament (14th January). This is your last opportunity to become classified prior to the competition season commencing.

Please fill out the online registration form to acknowledge your attendance at the training day.

Hosted by Club Sunbury bowlers should arrive by 9:30am to check-in, for a 10:00am start.

Are you coming to get classified?

To be eligible to compete in para bowls events, players must first receive a classification to be eligible to enter competitions such as the Integrated Pairs, Para Disabilities State Championships and Bowlers with a Physical Disability Squad events. You may also have the opportunity to represent Victoria at the Multi-Bowls Nationals.

The two-step process to become classified is as follows:

  1. Before your classification day, your doctor must complete a Certificate of Diagnosis form and you must bring it along to classification day.
  2. An official classifier will assess your physical impairment as relevant to the requirements for playing bowls. You must bring the bowls and any equipment you use to assist during your game; e.g. walking stick, wheelchair etc.

If you wish to become a classified bowler, please contact Glen at BV for eligibility requirements and to get the process underway, via email glen@bowlsvic.org.au or by phone on (03) 9861 7109.
