A popular win as Tocumwal BC confirms merger

Some things change. Some stay the same. Sometimes they can happen at the same time.
Amid an exciting period of change for Tocumwal Bowls Club, it’s fitting that popular club stalwart Allan Seamer has – at the age of 82 – won a club championship to complete a rare double in the one season.
Allan added his club championship win to winning Tocumwal’s Bowls Victoria Volunteer of the Year award for all his hard work at the club over many years, including greens maintenance and serving on a variety of committees.
The popular win comes amid unprecedented change for the Tocumwal club.
It recently agreed a merger with the town’s golf club to become Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club, and create what the club’s board hope will become a world-class sporting venue in the beautiful Murray River region.
A key plank in the merger will be the planning and construction of two new greens at the golf club.
The bowls club says all members are very enthusiastic about the potential of the merger for both clubs and the town, and already a few golfers are trying their hand at Monday night barefoot bowls.
And in a fitting finale to one chapter for the club, Chris Philpot will go down in history as Tocumwal Bowls Club’s last life member before the transition to Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club.
Chris was deservedly awarded life membership for his hard work at the bowls club.
