Doing us proud at Australian Open
Three Australian Open champions. Four titles. Five in the Jackaroos squad.
That was the sensational result for Victoria from the Australian Open on the Gold Coast.
Sunbury’s Carla Odgers was part of the winning women’s fours team, while Tiffany Brodie from Fitzroy Victoria won the hearing impaired women’s singles final.
Josh Thornton (East Shepparton) won both the physical disability men’s singles and men’s pairs finals.
And following the tournament, Odgers, Chloe Stewart (Kyneton), Barrie Lester (Mulgrave CC), Aaron Wilson (Cheltenham) and Matt Flapper (Ocean Grove) made the Australian squad for 2015-16.
Our five Victorians are now in line for selection for next year’s world championships in NZ.

Future stars in Test match action
Three of the Victorians who starred at the Australian Open spearhead a strong state under 18 team in action at Shepparton Park from July 4-6.
Jayden Christie (Werribee), Josh Corless (Bundoora) and Tiffany Brodie (Fitzroy Victoria) are part of the Victorian boys and girls teams taking on representative outfits from Wellington, New Zealand.
Singles, pairs, triples and fours will be played over the three days of action.
