Portarlington seeking Playing Coach
The Portarlington Bowls Club is seeking to appoint a playing coach for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. The Club currently has seven teams in the Geelong Bowls Region Saturday and Midweek competitions.
The Coach is responsible for:
- Structured and planned training sessions
- Preparation of the players for playing Pennant bowls
- Assisting in the selection and preparation of all Pennant teams
- Developing each player’s potential and providing opportunities to learn different team roles
- Encouraging excellence in execution
- Providing positive feedback and post game analysis to the players
- Assisting with player recruitment and retention
- Adherence to player selection guidelines
- Advising both Selection and match Committees
- Liaising with volunteer accredited coaches within our club
- Communicating with players when moved between grades (both up and down)
- Attending club meetings as scheduled
Knowledge and Skills required:
- Accredited Coach with appropriate level (or prepared to obtain Accreditation prior to appointment)
- Demonstrated playing experience and ability to perform at the highest level
- Good communication & interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic, disciplined and dedicated
- Flexible and innovative
