Victorian Open Women’s State Coach Appointed

Bowls Victoria is delighted to announce the appointment of Sharyn Renshaw as the new Victorian Open Women’s State Coach.
A highly respected figure in Australian bowls, Renshaw brings a wealth of elite playing experience, leadership, and a genuine passion for developing athletes. Her career at the highest level of the sport spans decades, highlighted by her time representing Australia as a proud Jackaroo (cap #72).
Renshaw has enjoyed significant success on the international stage, including a silver medal in the Women’s Triples at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, as well as a silver medal in the Triples at the Eight Nations Tournament.
Across more than two decades, she proudly represented the NSW Blues, claiming eleven NSW State Championships along the way. She was also part of the powerhouse St Johns Park Bowling Club side that captured eight Women’s Grade 1 State Pennant titles.
Beyond her success on the green, Renshaw has made a lasting contribution to the sport through coaching, mentoring, and media. She has spent seventeen years working with the NSW Junior Blues, helping guide and develop many players who have gone on to represent their state and country. Her knowledge of the game has also seen her become a familiar voice in the commentary box, contributing across multiple Commonwealth Games broadcasts, and she is set to return to the microphone again at this year’s Games.
Throughout her career, Renshaw has remained passionate about the values bowls instils: friendship, opportunity, and lifelong learning.
“Bowls has given me incredible friendships, opportunities and experiences. Being able to help players grow and reach their potential in the sport is something I’m truly passionate about,” Renshaw said.
Now based in Ocean Grove, having relocated to Victoria, her extensive playing experience and long-standing commitment to coaching and athlete development, makes Renshaw an outstanding appointment for the Open Women’s State program. Her leadership and insight at the highest levels of the game will be invaluable as Bowls Victoria continues to strengthen its women’s program.

Sharyn will work alongside fellow Selectors Ian Ewing, State Coach, and Jody Nevill.
