Moulamein Bowling Club scores two 8 badges
In one of the rarest cases seen in bowls, one talented rink from Moulamein Bowling Club has scored not one but TWO 8 badges in a single game.
During Round 8 of the Murray Valley Bowls Playing Area Division 1 Weekend Pennant Competition, the winning rink of Mark Evans, William Wilson, Louisa Dean and Kerryn Evans (pictured) had a day out scoring two 8’s over the course of the game. The first 8 was scored before the break, and the second one earned after.
Congratulations to all 4 bowlers – we look forward to seeing all of your 8 badges on display soon.

We think an 8 to be a pretty rare occurrence, but picking up two 8’s in the same game is infinitely rarer. We have checked our archives and found several reports of two 8’s being scored in a single game:
• February 1, 1997 a Clayton Division 3 side of Adam Khan, Max Watkins, Jeff Parker and Jim Moore (Skip) achieved the rare two 8’s in a single game.
• November 22, 1997 an 8 was picked up twice by an Eaglehawk Bowls Club rink in Division C.
• In mid 2001 a Longwarry Division 6 pennant team competing in the Mid Gippsland League scored two 8’s in the space of 6 ends. The team was reported to have an average age of “around 75”
