Biggest ever week of State Side Competition

by Team BV

2nd August, 2024.

The biggest ever week of State Side activities commences today with the Bowls Victoria State Under-18 Side en route to the Gold Coast to compete in the annual Tri-Series versus NSW and Queensland.

To be hosted at Club Tweed, this edition will be the second hosting of the Tri-Series, after the inaugural Series was won comprehensively by Victoria under the expert guidance of State Under-18 Coach, Matt Flapper.

On Monday, the State Para and Senior Sides will head to St Johns Park BC in Sydney to take on NSW over three days of competition.

The State Para Side will compete in an inaugural State Side Series, the first for any State Para Sides in the country. The unique format will see all three men and three women compete in Triples, Pairs, and Singles legs over three Tests. An exciting time for Para bowls!

The Senior Sides will compete in three Tests, with the women seeking to retain their status as the leading Women’s Side in the country, while the Men look to reverse their 2023 result.

Finally, on Thursday, the Open and Development Sides will head off to St Johns Park to challenge NSW.

The Development Side of six men and six women will play a combination of Fours and Pairs, with each player playing both disciplines. The Open Side will compete in three Tests with competition being tough as NSW come off a Series versus Queensland at the same venue held in mid-July.
