St Kilda seeking Qualified Greenkeeper
St Kilda Bowling Club is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join their team as a Lawn Bowls Greenkeeper. This role requires expertise in maintaining lawn bowls greens to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent and current Chemcert accreditation.
PURPOSE
The Greenkeeper’s responsibility is to provide quality green maintenance for a tiff dwarf green and to take care of the overall presentation of the club. The position will report to our Business Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Tiff Dwarf grass green and surrounding areas to the highest standards, ensuring the green is playable six days a week.
- Perform necessary maintenance on the grass green, including renovation, fertilisation, scarification, levelling, top dressing, and hollow tining, as well as mowing and hedging the club surroundings.
- Manage the procurement and application of all sprays, fertilisers, herbicides, and other chemicals for the greens, ensuring proper storage and compliance with WH&S regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and implement a maintenance schedule for the green, including reporting to management and coordinating with the club bowling calendar.
- Operate and maintain pumps, irrigation equipment, and drainage systems for the green and surrounding areas.
- Maintain ditches, edge grass banks, and perform line markings on the green to the required standards.
- Set up rinks and the green for bowls practice, pennant play, club tournaments, special events, club championships, and social bowls, working independently and as part of the Sports Club team.
- Utilise experience to operate, maintain, service, and repair all club greenkeeping equipment safely and efficiently.
