Seeking Head Coach

Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club is seeking expressions of interest for a head coach.

Applicants for the role must already be an experienced accredited playing coach, or be willing to undertake accreditation, and join our coaching team to manage Club coaching programs, designed to maximize the bowling skills of our members.

To be successful with your application, you will also need to demonstrate that you possess good skills in the fields of communication, leadership, people and planning.

Our Club is affiliated with the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls Region, and last season, we had eight Sides participating in local Regional Pennant Competitions. Pennant Sides were entered in Divisions 1, 2, 5 & 7 in the Weekend Pennant Competition, (There were 2 Sides entered in Division 7) and Divisions 2, 4, & 6 of the Mid-Week Competition. Five of the eight sides qualified for the finals

About Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club

  • The Club’s current goal is to have a Pennant side in the Regional Premier League
  • Our Club is located within one of the fastest developing areas in Central Victoria, close to Bendigo.
  • We currently have 168 members, which includes 102 affiliated bowlers.
  • We have two top-class grass greens, and within the next few months, we will be moving into brand new Clubrooms, adjacent to the greens.

As Head Coach you will be expected to:

  • Report directly to the President of the Bowls Club as and when required,
  • Develop coaching programs designed to improve the bowling ability and skill levels of those members who are seeking such improvements,
  • Work closely with Pennant Selectors and Club Bowls Committees, and
  • Possess the ability, and be available to play bowls with, the Club’s top Pennant Side.

As Head Coach, you will be responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of coaching programs for all bowling members, with a focus on team and individual development.
  • Joint delivery of coaching programs in conjunction with Club coaches.
  • Conducting weekly training sessions for all Pennant players during the Pennant season.
  • Arranging and delivering special training sessions as required, towards attaining improvement in the skills and competencies of bowling members.
  • Participating in Pennant selection meetings.
  • Communicating regularly with bowling members either in person, or via the Club’s communication platforms.
  • Performing other relevant duties as required by the President or the Board from time to time, in accordance with the role requirements.

Remuneration/hours of work will be as negotiated between the Club and the successful applicant and be commensurate with relevant experience.
