2015 Victorian Open – day 3 men’s
Whittlesea wizard Nick McIntyre, Wayne Roberts and Dane McKinnon have added last eight men’s triples berths to their strong singles performances at the 2015 Victorian Open.
After two wins and a draw in the sectionals, McIntyre, Graham Guy (Bundoora RSL) and Luke Eddington (Whittlesea) eventually marched into the triples quarter-finals with a 14-11 win over Steve O’Regan, Josh Sanders and Rod Nicholson.
Also through to the trips quarters is Roberts (Yarraville Footscray) – who like McIntyre is also through to the men’s singles last 32.
In the most enticing of the triples quarter-final match-ups scheduled for Thursday, Roberts’ trio will take on Altona and Victoria bowler McKinnon, Michael Sims and Winston Brackley.
Ocean Grove trio Michael Allen, Owen Clark and Michael West are also into the last eight. They ended the tournament of young guns Jayden Christie, Todd Trewarne and Nathan Lynch 14-11, then took out Avenue’s John Hofstra, Geoffrey White and Bill Hawken.
