Victoria Mounts Successful Start to National Campaign in Tasmania
Victoria has come out of the blocks with a solid win in Round One in both the Men’s & Women’s Over 60’s National Sides Championships being played at North Launceston BC, Tasmania.
Up against the local favourites the Victorians were slow to get going in their Women’s match, not really hitting their straps until after the halfway mark before eventually stringing a number of ends together to record a comfortable 66-47 win.
It was pleasing to have all rinks up with Joyce Lindores rink winning 19-16, Anne Miles grabbing another rink off Tassie 19-13 and Joy Johnson making it a hat-trick of rink wins by securing a 28-18 result to secure the 66-47 win.
The Victorian Men were able to lead all the way in their first round encounter and they too scored an impressive 66-45 win with all rinks saluting the judge.
Ian Ross and his rink returned a 20-14 win, Ashley Bates scored another rink win for the Vics with a polished 23-14 display and Ray Jansen’s men made it three from three with a solid 23-17 win to claim the victory and all rink points for the day.
It’s been a great start by the Victorians but a real test faces then tomorrow when they take on New South Wales in the morning followed by Western Australia in the afternoon.
