Vale – Herbert (Bert) Milgate
It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing away of our friend and former RVBA Honorary Treasurer, Herbert (Bert) Milgate.
Bert was the RVBA Honorary Treasurer from 1998 until his retirement in August 2006 and during this time served on the RVBA Board as Finance Director.
Bert was a member of the Chirnside Park Bowls Club, along with his wife, Moira, and both served on a number of Committees at the Country Club and in the Bowls Section.
Bert was also a Past President of the Lilydale Probus Club, involved in the Neighbourhood Watch program and a Past President and Life Member of the Essendon Tennis Club.
Bert is fondly remembered around the Bowls Victoria offices amongst long serving staff and former RVBA members as a gentleman, with a penchant for sartorial elegance; always dressed in a colourful shirt and coordinated tie. He was an astute businessman and had travelled extensively throughout the world. Bert also possessed a cheeky sense of humour and was well liked by all who crossed his path.
