Under 18 development day at Benalla BC

by Team BV

There’s no denying the importance of junior bowlers when discussing the future of bowls in Australia, but the importance of junior coaches and officials isn’t something that’s always at the forefront of discussion.
This however, is set to change as members and supporters of Victoria’s under 18 Gold and Silver Squads were put through their paces as part of an under 18 development day at Benalla Bowls Club.
With 19 aspiring coaches undertaking the Introductory Coach course, and eight interested officials looking at a combination of marking and measuring activities, the development day has gone a long way towards challenging the perceptions surrounding the roles of coaches and officials in the sport of bowls and who’s able to fulfil these roles.
With participants as young as 13 involved on the day, and some of the state’s best young bowlers undertaking the intro course, it holds the sport in good stead for the coming years and into the future.
Here’s where you can find more information on coming an accredited coach or official.
