Victoria has an Australian Open champion.
Sunbury’s Carla Odgers was part of the winning women’s fours team at the big-money tournament at the Gold Coast.
She teamed with Natasha Scott and Natalie and Samantha Noronha – all from NSW – for a nailbiting win in their final.
Victorians Matt Flapper, Jayden Christie, Josh Corless and Tiff Brodie all remain alive in the Australian Open singles.
All are into the last 16 of the men’s and women’s singles. Good luck to all our remaining competitors

At an age he should be playing with Lego rather than lawn bowls, seven-year-old Jett Simmons is taking on the adults and winning.
Jett teamed with NSW bowler Alan Fawcett to win their section of the men’s pairs at the Australian Open.
It was a stunning andf history-making effort from the youngest evercompetitor in the tournament.

EVENT WRAP UP
Stawell AAA bowls day
The Stawell Regional All Abilities Bowls Day will be held on September 17. Stawell Bowling Club and Mallee Sports Assembly invite you to join them in a game of bowls and participate in their Access All Abilities bowls day.
The day starts at 10:30am for morning tea, with a game of bowls to be played from 11am to 12:15pm.
Lunch is then provided and followed by another game. There’ll be a presentation from 1pm for all participants.
This is a great opportunity to get involved, have a try at bowls, meet and make new friends and enjoy a very social atmosphere. The day comes at the very reasonable cost of $10.
Make sure you dress in your favourite footy team colours and go along with the theme for the day!
