Child Safety

CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS

The Victorian Child Safe Standards apply to all sporting organisations that provide services or facilities to children within Victoria.

The Standards relate to developing a child safe culture within your club and include requirements to have practices, procedures and policies in place to prevent and respond to allegations of child abuse.

As of 1 January 2017, Victorian law requires all organisations that work with children to meet the Victorian Child Safe Standards. VicSport provide resources for Clubs to help them comply with the Child Safety Standards.

Bowls Victoria has created a Sample Child Safety Policy to assist clubs with their compliance responsibilities.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN’S CHECK

A Working With Children Check (WWCC) is a mandatory requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in Victoria. Anyone at your Club who comes into direct contact with children MUST have a WWCC.  Please visit our Training + Education page to apply online.

WWCC RECORD KEEPING

Club are required by law to record who at their club holds a Working With Children Check. This WWCC Record Keeping Sheet is helpful worksheet for recording relevant information about who at your Club needs and holds a Check, such as application/card numbers and expiry dates.
