School Competitions Commence

by Team BV

This weekend sees the commencement of school competitions with the Bowls Victoria-facilitated Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) practice rounds commencing at City of Heidelberg Bowling Club, while next weekend the Associated Public Schools (APS) competition gets underway at Glen Waverley Bowls Club.

The City of Heidelberg BC can expect to see up to 50 participant students each week as the new host of the recently relocated competition. The participating Schools come from the local area and will provide a great source of potential juniors, social members, and prospective function audiences, not to mention the immediate benefits of more than 75 visitors each Saturday morning for the next six weeks enjoying the Club’s hospitality.

Bowls Victoria pays particular thanks to City of Heidelberg BC for stepping in as host with notice of less than 48 hours following a last-minute change of circumstance at the original host Club.

Glen Waverley BC will continue as host of the APS competition in which they are quite experienced, having previously hosted both AGSV and APS competitions simultaneously. The Club will host 10 APS Schools and can expect up to 90 visitors each week.

The recent restructure in competition, adopting a ‘Sides’-based format, and the relocation of AGSV to City of Heidelberg has seen a growth in both competitions.

The AGSV and APS are just two of several school-based competitions facilitated by Bowls Victoria and hosted in Clubs across the State.
