Discounted Affiliation fees (COVID relief)

by Team BV

The Board of Bowls Victoria have discussed the difficulties that our affiliated clubs are facing due to the enforced lockdowns. It is a situation that we have been watching closely, with many unknowns to consider.

The Board would firstly like to take this opportunity to reinforce our thanks for your patience while we considered all options (after completion of the end of financial year audit), to make the best decision in the interests of our clubs, members and the Association.

Last financial year, we were very fortunate to receive substantial State and Federal government support, which enabled us to offer a substantial discount to clubs’ affiliation fees. The sobering news is, there isn’t the same level of government support this year.

Unfortunately, COVID is still impacting all aspects of our sport. From club lockdowns to cancellations of key programs and major events such as the Victorian Open, the impact has been felt widely.

While the BV team are still committed to providing a full and exciting season ahead, the Board understands the ability to raise revenue at club level during the off-season has been severely impacted.

For that reason, the Board has approved a 25% reduction to affiliation fees, to aid clubs in their operations and the impending return to bowls.

We are confident this 25% reduction in fees will be welcome news to our member clubs.

For clubs who have already paid their fees, a refund of 25% of the amount already paid will be reimbursed (by EFT). For clubs who still owe fees, we will liaise with you directly for your specific circumstances.

We hope that this news, combined with the 80% vaccination rate scheduled to be reached within the coming weeks, will lift all our collective spirits by seeing us return to play, all the while crossing our fingers for some sunshine.

While we’re close to being able to return to the game we love, we urge everyone to be careful in doing so. Our thoughts remain with anyone who is unwell, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

As soon as the government gives us the green light to return to competition, the Board and staff, along with the RBMs, are available to support clubs with whatever assistance you may need prior to the start of competition bowls.

Take care, keep well and stay safe.
