2021 City V Country Series Announced
Bowls Victoria is proud to announce a new City Vs Country series, designed to help form the basis for selection for the Victorian Thunder (male) and Lightning (female) State sides for the 2021 season.
The event, to be held over consecutive weekends at Bendigo Bowls Club, will feature the State’s best city and country players going head to head for bragging rights. This new concept will feature 24 men per side (6 rinks) and 16 women per side (4 rinks), playing 5 x 15 end games across the 2 day series. The team with the most game wins will take the title. Will it be City or Country?
This new City Vs Country concept will provide a higher standard of competition, increased visibility for players across the state, a more meaningful competition and a historical record of all players chosen to represent either the City or the Country team.
Players will be presented with a numbered City or Country cap in recognition of their selection.
BV/BA pathways coach Ian Ewing said of the new concept, “a revamp in the way we select players to represent the state has been needed for a while, and we believe providing a more competitive environment in which the players can showcase their skills can only be a good thins for bowls in Victoria. Creating the bragging rights for the winner, City or Country, adds an extra dimension to the game for the players to fight for.”
