Rietschel joins the BV team
Bowls Victoria is excited to announce the appointment of Geoff Rietschel to the role of GM Bowls Operations.
The GM Bowls Operations role is an expanded role that includes Coaching, Officiating, Club Education, High Performance, Regional Bowls Managers, Inclusion, Player Pathway and the former role of Participation Manager.
Rietschel (BBus Monash) has extensive experience in membership, participation and club development. He is the current CEO of Volleyball Victoria, a position he has held since 2015.
Prior to this role, Geoff spent five years as the Membership and Participation Manager at Softball Australia after six years at Gymnastics Australia (Member Services and Capability Manager) and prior to that the Australian Sports Commission (now Sport Australia).
“Having admired with Bowls Victoria have done for some years, I think there are some real strengths and opportunities for the future” said Rietschel.
Rietschel’s most recent role as CEO of Volleyball Victoria achieved a number of successes, including significant participation growth with registered members increasing 85%. Rietschel also oversaw the management of two teams in the Australian Volleyball League with excellent results including the Women’s team winning the Championship and Men’s team finishing 3rd.
“I’ve loved my time at VV and now am thrilled to join BV and am really keen to help progress the sport on several fronts” said Rietschel.
When Rietschel worked at Gymnastics Australia, he was responsible for the coordination of the Technical Membership program for coaches and officials. He was also responsible for the servicing of Gymnastics Tasmania, bringing a well-rounded skillset to Team BV. Importantly, Geoff is well-respected by the Victorian State Government and VicHealth, two important partners of BV.
