2019/20 Metropolitan Pennant Season Wraps Up

Thursday July 2nd 2020.

Following last week’s COVID-19 advice from Bowls Victoria regarding postponed events due to hotspots located in Metropolitan Melbourne, we wish to notify to all Metropolitan Pennant Clubs due to play 2019/20 Divisional Finals, that all Divisional Finals will now be cancelled.

This includes all Midweek Metropolitan Pennant (Division 1 through to Division 5 and 6-a-side) and Weekend Metropolitan Pennant (Division 1 through to Division 7 and 6-a-side).

All of the above competitions will have no Divisional Champion for Season 2019/20.

The Premier Division matches scheduled for August, will also be cancelled, with the Premier Division Title being awarded to Bundoora RSL based upon:

  • Being the Minor Premiers
  • Being the only team in the Grand Final as the competition ceased in March 2020; and
  • Having a winning head-to-head record against the remaining opponents (Deer Park 2-1, Altona 2-0)

The next Metropolitan Pennant matches will be the commencement of the 2020/21 Season on the anticipated date of Saturday September 26, 2020.

Bowls Victoria will continue to monitor the COVID-19 hotspots situation and provide an update to clubs and members at the end of July, as we progress towards next season’s competition.

Clubs are still open, with Social Bowls and Practice/Roll Ups able to take place under our current State Government approved guidelines.
