Allen joins the BV team

by Team BV

Bowls Victoria is excited to announce the appointment of Melanie Allen to the role of Communications and Marketing Manager.

This role aims to raise our profile and enhance our image to attract new social and competitive participants while managing our digital platforms (EDM, social media, livestreaming) and communications to the Bowls Victoria key stakeholders.

As a keen bowler with Communications and Marketing experience in member-based organisations, Melanie was considered perfect for the role in a very strong field of applicants. “My marketing background, experience and skills are well suited to the role, but more importantly my passion for bowls is my driving force to succeed in this role” Allen said.

Having completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) and over 20 years’ experience creating content, copywriting, report writing, preparing and delivering presentations, face to face customer service and relationship building skills, Melanie is well-equipped for success. She has developed successful social media strategies for multiple businesses, and specific brands and categories within those businesses.

“To be able to go to work every day and represent an organisation and a sport that has brought so much positivity to my life of late will be so rewarding.”

So close! Melanie was runner-up against Hampton BC’s Christine Scopel 21-20 in the Sandbelt Bowls Region Novice Championships this past January.

Like so many others, Melanie joined her local club through a mix of chance and her inquisitive nature. Always wondering what was on the other side of the fence after walking her dog past Murrumbeena Park Bowl Club numerous times, Melanie had to find out. Not long after the club held their annual barefoot bowling ‘corporate cup’ so Melanie entered a work team and from that point on was hooked!

“I am passionate about bowls and am doing everything I can at a local club level to increase participation and spread the word about our sport” said Allen.

Bowls Victoria congratulate Melanie on her appointment and wish her well in the new role from 1 July 2020.
