Mildura All Abilities Regional Bowls Carnival

by Team BV

Thursday the 5th of March saw the second Mildura All Abilities Regional Bowls Carnival. Overall a great event was held with 45 students from Mildura Specialist School playing bowls in the morning and 18 adults participating in the afternoon. The skill level for the carnival showed a great deal of improvement from week 1 of practice and enthusiasm for the sport.

Unfortunately, the wild weather reduced the amount of time played in the morning, but this made the teams and individuals more competitive. The four best players from the school’s division were Ashton Thomson, Jorja Stephens, Justin Stone, Rebecca Shugg and Cody Lyall, who all received a mini trophy for their achievements.

As part of the event, two teams played Jack Attack games. All six individuals were successful in receiving a participation medal for their accomplishments.

In the afternoon matches, we had players from Sunraysia Residential Services (SRS) compete against SuniTafe/Christie Centre. Everyone played in pairs for the competition with Tasha Whitton and Daniel Jones scoring over 17 points, securing the win, making SRS the organization for the day, and Nick McMinn and Rohan Reimers as the runners up.

All players, carers, support staff and volunteers had a wonderful day bowling, followed by lunch in the club rooms. We would like to thank our partners involved in the day including, Bowls Victoria, Bowls Australia, Mallee Sports Assembly, Bowls Sunraysia, and Euston Bowling Club and a special thank you to our fantastic hosts, Mildura Workers Bowls Club.
