Lions find cubs for Metro Pennant

by Sean O'Kane

One of the youngest ever Metro Pennant Teams represented Fitzroy Victoria Bowls Club against Croydon Bowls Club in Round 13. On a wet day in Melbourne, the side was ahead, when suddenly a lake replaced the green!

Despite the efforts of the weather, all four kids still had a smile on their face.

Congratulations to Chloe Scherger (11), Winter Fagioli (11), Alessi Di Sipio (12) & Eridani Wheeler (12).

It’s a strong testament to the Fitzroy Victoria Junior Bowls Program, led by Bowls Development Coordinator, Peter Hille: “The kids love their bowls and interact well with players of all ages. The kids are all part of Fitzroy Victoria’s Junior Development Squad at have a bright future in the sport”.

Fitzroy Victoria joins Richmond Union Bowling Club & Carrum Bowling Club partaking in Melbourne’s Metro Pennant 6-a-side competition, which provides a great entry to juniors aiming to get involved in Bowls.

This comes on the back of an outstanding first season of Junior League, the new Under-18 Competition which Fitzroy Victoria was the host from October to December last year.
