Day 1 Wrap: Australian Schools Super Series

The Australian Schools Super Series rolled into Tweed Heads Bowls Club today with a 15 strong Victorian Team making their way north to contest the event. 

Now in its second year, the three-day event sees our young Victorian stars go up against the best school bowlers from New South Wales Combined High Schools and Queensland in a 5-a-side format.

Four games took place on day one, with Victoria playing the following three teams.

Victoria Team A  

Jarryd Davies (singles, pairs) 

Lachlan Seear (pairs, fours)

Emilee Davies (triples, fours)

Josh Leszczynski (triples, fours)

Mitchell Keel/Sophie Kurzman (triples, fours)


Victoria Team B 

Tyson Cromie (singles, pairs)

Olivia Slade (pairs, fours)

Ben Fletcher (triples, fours)

Harry Plias (triples, fours)

Liam Turner (triples, fours)


Victoria Team C 

Grant McLaren (singles, pairs)

Blake Keel (pairs, fours)

Akasha Fortune (triples, fours) 

Koby Cromie (triples, fours)

Olivia Cartwright (triples, fours)

Sophie Kurzman was a late omission due to illness with emergency Mitchell Keel stepping in. Victoria won its matches against Queensland and New South Wales with a standout performance by Tyson Cromie. Victoria C was our best performing team after day one.

Day two of the competition will get underway at 9:00 am tomorrow with the Victoria sides up against NSW Green, NSW Red and NSW Blue in game five, QLD B, NSW Red and NSW Green in game six, and QLD A, VIC B and VIC C in game seven before the commencement of side finals.

The Australian Schools Super Series will be played at Tweed Heads Bowls Club from September 17-19, 2019.
