Applications open for Shade Grants Program
The Department of Health and Human Services is inviting incorporated community groups to apply for the state Government’s Shade Grants Program.
The grant is being offered as one of the Victorian Government’s election commitments to provide $15.1 million of funding for shade grants and community education campaigns over 2019-23.
Grants provide up to $50,000 for community groups, which can include up to $700 for sun protection items (excluding GST). Applicants may also request up to $700 for sun protection items only.
Shade combined with other forms of sun protection measures provides protection from harmful ultraviolet radiation exposure when spending time outdoors, which helps to lower the risk of skin cancer.
All information that is needed to award a grant is collected at the time of application. This will ensure that successful organisations receive their funding to commence shade projects as soon as possible.
