Nominations Open for the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards
Volunteers are one of a Bowls Club’s most important resources. It’s no exaggeration to suggest that without the hard work and dedication of these community-minded individuals, Bowls Clubs in Victoria and around Australia would struggle to survive, let alone thrive.
Volunteers are the people who; organise our Club activities, cater for our events, prepare our greens, coach our bowlers, take the minutes at meetings, run the bar, attract new members, build new relationships, and the list goes on and on.
Acknowledging our Volunteers
The Bowls Victoria Volunteer of the Year Award helps recognise the outstanding contributions volunteers have made to our Clubs over the past 12 months.
How will this be done?
Step 1: Clubs nominate a Club Volunteer of the Year
Every Club is encouraged to nominate their Club Volunteer of the Year by listing the activities their nominee has participated in as a volunteer, and how they have contributed to the Club and the sport in the past 12 months. Clubs must complete the Club Volunteer of the Year – Nomination Form which is to be endorsed by the Club Secretary or President and submit this to their Region Secretary prior to 26 July 2019.
Step 2: Regions select their Region Club Volunteer of the Year
After collecting nominations from all of their Clubs, each Region Committee must then decide their Club Volunteer of the Year from within their Region. Regions are then required to forward their selection to Bowls Victoria at neilg@bowlsvic.org.au along with a copy of the original Club nomination form prior to 31 August 2019.
Step 3: Bowls Victoria Review Nominations and Announce at AGM
After collecting nominations from all sixteen Regions, the Bowls Victoria Awards Committee will review the sixteen Region Club Volunteers of the Year and provide a shortlist to the Bowls Victoria Board who will decide the overall winner.
All Region Club Volunteers of the Year will be invited to the Bowls Victoria Annual General Meeting on 24 October 2019. Region winners will be presented with their awards and the announcement of the Bowls Victoria Volunteer of the Year will also take place.
Please note certificates will only be created for the winners of the region not all nominees within a region. These certificates will be presented at the AGM and will not be available prior to that event.

* Clubs nominate Club Volunteer of the Year to their Region, 26 July 2019.
* Regions notify Bowls Victoria of Region Club Volunteer of the Year, 31 August 2019.
* Bowls Victoria Volunteer of the Year Award Winner announced at Bowls Victoria Annual General Meeting, 24 October 2019.
