Day 1 Wrap: Champion of State Pennant (Saturday)
Champion of State Pennant (Saturday) rolled into Moama Bowls Club today with 12 teams marking their way to the Riverina region to start the three-day event.
In section A, Shepparton Golf took on City of Frankston, Wodonga played Essendon and Traralgon played Kerang. Shepparton Golf won over City of Frankston 44 to 29, Traralgon and Kerang ended in a draw 39 all, and Essendon bet Wodonga 56 to 29
Section B saw Ocean Grove go head to head with Bendigo East, West Sale took on Ballarat Memorial and Stawell played Portland RSL. Ballarat Memorial beat West Sale 47 to 40, Bendigo East won over Ocean Grove 49 to 41 and Portland RSL took the win over Stawell 45 to 37.
The 2019 Champion of State Pennant for Saturday competition will be held at Moama Bowling Club from May 3-5. Champion of State Pennant midweek will commence on Tuesday afternoon.
