Winter Pennant set to roll in Inner City

by Team BV

Winter Pennant, the popular Inner City competition, is set to commence this week.

The competition sees Clubs play against Clubs that they have never previously played against over a seven-week season.

Clubs within a 10km radius of the City are eligible to enter the competition, with the Grand Finals to be played at Princes Park on June 22.

A record 43 teams have entered this season comprising six divisions for the first time.

The competition is run in a two-bowl triples format, with teams made up of six players. At the half time break, players swap rinks. There are two Medley Rounds scheduled where players play in Singles, Pairs and Triples. These have been extremely popular and the organisers regularly get asked for more Medley Rounds to be conducted.

This year the competition features a Power Play where the skipper can call for one in each game in which his team doubles their score.

To become involved in the Winter Pennant competition, contact your nearest competing club and see if there are spots available. The Clubs are bounded by Flemington & Kensington, Brunswick, East Ivanhoe, Camberwell Central and St Kilda and include most clubs in the inner-zone.

Please note, this is not a Bowls Victoria competition and all questions regarding the Winter Pennant need to be directed to participating clubs.
