Ovens & Murray Celebrate Doug Kneebone Tournament Victory
Darebin City Bowls Club welcomed the young guns of bowls for the 2019 Doug Kneebone Tournament this week.
14 teams from Bowls Victoria’s Junior Development Squads were represented, including the Northern Flyers, Eastern Eagles, Bendigo Dragons, Goulburn Valley Devils, Ovens and Murray Kelly Gang and Central Highlands Rangers. The open fours tournament saw juniors roll up in Singles, Paris, Triples and Fours events.
Chilly conditions swirled all day with the wind picking up in the semi-finals and final which meant players had to adjust. The final came down to Ovens and Murray Kelly Gang taking on the Central Highlands Rangers, who were going for their third win in a row. But a trifecta wasn’t to be with Ovens and Murray Kelly Gang took out the title 3-2.
Events like these wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing and generous support of volunteers, this includes club volunteers, umpires, coaches, committees, team administrators and managers who all help in making events like this possible. Thank you for your support.
