Frankston Welcomes Battle of the Arms

by Team BV

The City of Frankston Bowling Club welcomed Victoria’s armed bowlers last weekend for the Battle of the Arms event.

24 teams of 3 (72 players) contested the 11th annual arm bowlers event on the Mornington Peninsula.

The day started with President Richard Keogh welcoming those attending, in what was a perfect day weather-wise for bowls.

Players enjoyed a wonderful club lunch and afternoon tea thanks to their dedicated volunteers. A raffle with some great prizes was also on offer.

Geoff Barber and his team were the first place winners, followed by Ian Ridley and team in second place and Howard Hinds and team in third.

This event comes after Newborough Bowls Club’s event in March which saw 16 teams vie for a $2000 prize purse.

Dromana took top honours, with their team skipped by Ray Arnold while J Cuthbertson, John Hannant and Ian Houston were runners up.
Third place went Jeff Crawford’s team from Maffra, with fourth going to Sandy Caines of Moe and fifth going to Geoff Stobbie of Maffra.
