Day 2 Wrap: Men’s Region Sides

Cool conditions greeted players on day two of the Men’s Region Sides at Traralgon Bowls Club as the tournament entered the halfway mark.

Play got underway early in what is the biggest day of the competition with some close battles on the green. Ovens and Murray edged out Murray Mallee 32 to 30 in Round 2, while other games saw wins to Northern Gateway, Strzelecki and Sandbelt.

It was a tight contest between Central Goulburn Murray and Geelong in Round 3 with Central Goulburn Murray securing the three points 31 to 29. Other wins for the round went to Metro West, Yarra and Peninsula Casey.

Round 4 saw victories to Eastern Ranges, Northern Gateway, Strzelecki, Sandbelt, Metro West and Peninsula Casey, while matches between Central Victoria and Geelong and Central Goulburn Murray and Bendigo Campaspe ended in a draw.

In the closing round, Metro West, Central Victoria, Peninsula Casey and Yarra all won through, together with Eastern Rangers, Ovens and Murray and Sandbelt who are currently undefeated.

At the end of day two, section ladders stand at:

Section A:
1. Sandbelt (15)
2. Northern Gateway (12)
3. Strzelecki & Eastern Ranges (9)

Section: B
1. Metro West (12)
2. Yarra (12)
3. Peninsula Casey (9)

Sunday will see Round 6 commence at 8:30 AM; culminating in the final game at approximately 1:30 PM. Live scores for Sunday’s final will be available on the Bowls Victoria Facebook page. Score updates will occur every 10 ends.
