Community come together for annual celebration at Sorrento

by

More than 300 guests attended the annual Australia Day Barefoot Bowls community event at Sorrento Bowls Club last, with the Mornington Peninsula turning on the charm.

Officiating the event was Australia Day Ambassador Professor Noel Alpins AM, who was joined by Mornington Peninsula Shire representatives Cr Hugh Fraser and Cr Bryan Payne.

Following the morning’s proceedings, new bowlers of all ages took to the green to show their skills, while others enjoyed a quiet Devonshire Tea and browsed the craft and book bargains on offer in the clubhouse.

The club’s popular children’s activities included colouring competitions and the much-anticipated egg and spoon races down the main green.

This event has become a feature attraction on the Mornington Peninsula for both locals and visitors over the long weekend and is an official venue sponsored by the Mornington Peninsula Shire. The day was proudly supported by the Club’s official sponsor Bloom Hearing Specialists in Rosebud.
