The prestigious Australian Championships headed into day two yesterday with the Pairs events played, and two silver medals for Victoria won.

Victoria was well represented in the Women’s Section by City of Colac duo Leeanne Fitzgerald and Rebecca McMahon and Adrian Marchioli and Nathan Murray from Bundoora RSL Bowls Club in the Men’s.

The Women’s Pairs faced intense competition from Tasmania and the Northern Territory in their sections, while the Men contend with Tasmania and New South Wales in theirs.

The boys from Bundoora RSL Bowls Club came out on top to secure a 13 to 10 win over father-son duo Ricky and Luke Richardson from South Burnie Bowls Club in Tasmania, followed by a 13 to 7 victory over Matt Miles and Jesse Noronha from Warilla Bowls Club in New South Wales.

In the Women’s Amelia Bruggy (Kingborough) and Lyn Triffitt (New Norfolk) from Tasmanian were just too strong for the City of Colac girls, snatching a 17 to 10 victory. However, the Vics came out firing in game two against the Northern Territory to win 24 to 9.

Fours action gets underway at 8.45am EST today with Jordan Yates, Darren Burgess, Jay Bye-Norris and Anthony Flapper (Essendon, VIC) lining up in the Men’s and  Johanna Calder, Julie Lowerson, Emma Simmonds and Dianne Gardner (Irymple, VIC) for the Women’s.
