Dandenong Club announces major development works
It’s an exciting time for sports in Dandenong.
The Dandenong Club has announced a major new development in the form of an undercover dome and new synthetic greens, creating an all-weather, year-round hub for bowls. Two years ago, the Club undertook a program aspiring to get more bowlers at the club bowling more often and only recently announced plans to complete a $1.4 overhaul of its main green.
These works have commenced and will include the installation of a Tiger Turf synthetic green, followed by the construction of a roof and upgraded surrounds. Planned for completion in September this year, the changes will provide year-round protection and access to the green day or night.

As a part of the exciting new development, The Dandenong Club has this week appointed Rob Wilson as its first, full time bowls coach. Wilson is a former Victorian under 18’s coach. He is nationally accredited and has been playing coach at Ashburton, MCC Kew, Armadale and Mt Waverley Bowls Clubs.
Wilson’s coaching role at Dandenong Club will involve managing the bowls office, coaching and playing in the pennant teams, serving members, running the club’s competitions and helping to develop the game and the venue. He will provide coaching for small groups or individuals looking to learn to play or to refine their game.
The Dandenong Club continues to offer opportunities for students from nearby schools to bowl at the club and Wilson’s exceptional work with younger bowlers is expected to be integral to the development of an academy for aspiring younger bowlers.
Last season a 25% increase in club membership was encouraging for the club, it was supplemented by the overall growth in its barefoot, corporate, schools and social programs.
