Northern Gateway win “The Vic” trophy
Jay Bye-Norris’ three State titles and a runners-up finish have helped his region Northern Gateway to the 2018 “The Vic” trophy – awarded to the best-performed region in State championships this season.
Essendon’s Norris – the standout performer of 2018 State Champions Week in Bendigo – won the men’s State Singles title, the Under 25 men’s singles title, and teamed with his Essendon clubmates Jordan Yates, Darren Burgess and Anthony Flapper to win the State men’s fours title.
That was enough to steer the Gaters to victory in “The Vic” – with Yarra Region second and Ovens & Murray third.
Ovens & Murray’s Kylie Whitehead won two titles during 2018 State Champions Week – the Under 25 Women’s Singles and women’s Champion of Champions singles.
