John Roberts nominated for VicSport award
Bowls Victoria’s Umpiring Committee Chairman John Roberts has been nominated for peak Victorian sports body VicSport’s Victorian Official of the Year award.
One of four finalists shortlisted for the award, John has officiated at state, national and international level during 2017, and during this period was selected to officiate at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
He is a regular official at major Victorian bowls events, including the Steller Vic Open and State Champions Week, and also writes the popular The Lawman column in Bowls Victoria’s fortnightly e-newsletter Heads Up.
John is one of Australia’s best and most experienced officials, and an acknowledged expert in enforcing the laws of the sport.
VicSport’s Official of the Year award aims to recognise those officials who have demonstrated excellence in their role as an official of their chosen sport during the 2017 year.
The ultimate winner of the award will be named at the VicSport Awards on Wednesday. March 14, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
