Victorians grab three medals at 2017 Nationals

by Team BV

Kylie Whitehead’s extraordinary 2017 just got better.

The Wodonga bowler added the revived Australian Championships women’s singles title to three Victorian State titles, and the Steller Vic Open won during the year, with a superb 25-13 win over world champion Natasha Scott of NSW.

Victorian star Whitehead had the week previous won the Victorian Open in Shepparton – a perfect springboard into the championships bringing together all State titles winners at Club Sapphire in Merimbula for what will be an annual event going forward.

In a great week for Victoria, Australian player Barrie Lester (Mulgrave Country Club) won silver in the men’s singles – beaten by three shots by Jackaroos teammate Aron Sherriff in a high-quality final 25-22.

And Victorians Ben Hubber and Johnny McCarron won bronze in the men’s pairs – Hubber following on from a great week at the Vic Open in which he made the men’s singles semi-finals.
