State Over 60 Singles Championships
Gary Body (Camperdown BC/West Coast Region) and Mary Tragardh (Yackandandah BC/Ovens & Murray) have taken their respective 2017 Victorian Over 60s singles championships at Deer Park Bowling Club.
Body won a hard-fought men’s final against Terry Bain (Diamond Creek/Yarra Region) 21-16 – a match in which multiples were few and which stretched for more than two and a half hours.
In the women’s final, Tragardh added another State championship to her women’s open pairs crown won earlier this year in Bendigo.
She played flawless bowls to overcome Jean Sprague (Central Goulburn Murray/Rushworth) 21-10, racing out to an early 7-1 lead and never relenting.
