Victorian Arm Bowling kicks up a notch
Arm Bowling goes up a gear as we enter the lead-up to this season’s State Arm Titles.
Bowls Victoria has determined to run this season’s Phil Gude State Bowling Arm Titles at the City of Frankston Bowling Club from January 2-5, 2018 on the Mornington Peninsula and are expecting significant entries from the interest already shown.
There are seven Arm events scheduled in the lead-up to the State titles between now and January 2.
Full details of registration entry to these events can be accessed on the Bowls Victoria website at the Bowlers Arm Tournament Schedule.
It is pleasing that events will be held in the country at Mooroopna and Echuca, at Werribee and Dromana and metro locations such as Burden Park, Armadale and Frankston in this important period.
Bowls Victoria State Arm Coordinator Phil Gude said these were all very important lead-up events both as a warm up for the State Titles and as opportunities to possibly stake a claim with the State Arm Selectors for the State Arm Side Trials to be held in 2018.
With the Armed Vics now five-time consecutive national champions, the State Selectors are keen to keep the forward momentum going and will be very watchful particularly at the Arm Titles to seek out players with the ability to challenge for a place in the side.
Thirty-five players have represented Victoria over the past five successful years coming from the length and breadth of Victoria which shows how the Selectors have successfully provided opportunities to players at the top level of their craft.
Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge, who is also an Arm Side Selector, said: “We urge the 7,000 plus Arm players to seriously consider joining in the State Titles in January as it is a great opportunity for players of every standard to compete in an important State Event and perhaps go further.”
