Steller new Premier Partner of Victorian bowls
Leading medium density property developer Steller has become a major sponsor of Victorian bowls, agreeing a lucrative five-year sponsorship with Bowls Victoria to assist the sport at all levels.
A key component of the deal is that Bowls Victoria’s marquee annual tournament will be known as the Steller Victorian Open until 2021, starting with this year’s Vic Open from November 18-24 in Shepparton.
The Steller Vic Open is one of Australia’s fastest growing sporting events, with entries doubling in the past three years to nearly 1,700 in 2017. The event allows rank-and-file club bowlers to compete on an equal footing with world-class bowlers in an exciting, unseeded, seven-day knockout tournament.
As well as becoming Vic Open naming rights sponsor, Steller will soon become a familiar name within Victorian bowls at all levels from grassroots upwards.
Steller’s properties and developments now feature on the cover of our premier print publication – the annual Region & Club Guide which contains details of all 520 Bowls Victoria clubs – and Steller’s name will also feature on all Bowls Victoria scorecards for events starting from the 2018-19 season.
Bowls Victoria is one of three sporting organisations to benefit from Steller’s generous $500,000 sporting sponsorship package announced in October 2017, along with AFL South-East and Mornington Racing Club.
Steller owns a number of residential properties across Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs as well as developing a state-of-the-art residential development in Mornington.
Managing Director of Steller Nicholas Smedley says: “We believe sponsorships are one of the best ways to connect with the local community. They allow us to share and support their passions and interests as well as build a stronger and closer relationship with them.”
Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge says the partnership is a huge win for Victorian bowls at all levels.
“Great news, and Bowls Victoria is extremely excited at commencing a long-term partnership with Steller,” Mr Bridge said.
“Bowls Victoria sees that many benefits can come to all parties from engaging with a high-profile company such as Steller who bring a number of alternatives to the table that will see direct benefits back to the sport and in return, enhanced opportunities for them as a Premier Partner.”
Bowls Victoria President Barbara Gilbert says: “This is proving to sponsors that bowls delivers.
“It’s a great sport and it’s wonderful that companies of the quality of Steller see that potential.
“We look forward to working together into the future for the benefit of both parties.”
Steller is a fully-integrated development company incorporating building, sales, property management and funds management.
The company currently has over 800 apartments under construction and 1000’s in planning stages with a total future pipeline in excess of $3 billion.
