Assumption College goes 1-2 in championship
Assumption College Kilmore has put in a dominant display at the 2017 AGSV Bowls Championship.
The school claimed both the winners & runners up awards in a great display at MCC Bowls Club (Kew).
In a very tense Grand Final, the Assumption 1 team narrowly defeated the Assumption 2 team seven shots to five.
The AGSV Bowls Championship was entered by eight teams across Assumption College (Kilmore), Ivanhoe Grammar, Camberwell Grammar and Trinity Grammar who started bowling bright and early at 8:30am.
Throughout the three rounds, there were some fantastic shots being played, some by students who had represented their school previously, but also by some students who had only picked up a bowl a handful of times, some only the day before the competition.
The Championship was decided over three rounds of competition and a round of finals – with each team winning at least a game on the day and only shot difference separating the top two teams in Pool B:
Bowls Victoria would like to say thanks again to the MCC Bowls Club (Kew) for hosting the event and Troy and the team at the AGSV for their assistance in making the event happen.
Additionally, a big thank you again to Kilmore Bowling Club, who assisted Assumption College in learning about the game of Bowls and preparing the school to participate in the championship.
Assumption College will now join teams from Ivanhoe Grammar and Camberwell Grammar (already qualified) in Bowls Victoria’s inaugural Victorian Schools Super Series in November, 2017.
This event showcases the best bowlers from all Victorian School Competitions in the calendar year.
All AGSV schools now can compete in the newly formed six-week AGSV Bowls Championship, held in Term 1, 2018.
