Avoca bus crash – Bowls Victoria statement

by Team BV

Bowls Victoria offers its deepest sympathies to husband Graeme and the extended Mitchell Family on the tragic loss of wife, mother and grandmother Carmel, tragically taken in the bus accident involving Ballarat District Bowls Division bowlers near Avoca on Saturday, October 14.
There is total disbelief that this has occurred and we are left to face the loss of a dedicated and truly respected member of her local and Victorian Bowls communities.
It is hoped that all surviving members of the touring party involved in the accident can recover fully from this ordeal and begin their individual journeys back from this terrible ordeal that has affected the entire state of Victoria and our prayers and thoughts are with those in intensive care situations.
The support of everyone who has rallied and offered messages of condolence and support for the Ballarat District Bowls Division members and Clubs involved in these tragic circumstances is greatly appreciated.
Sincere thanks also to all of the emergency response people who attended the scene and to the general members of the public who rendered assistance where they could, your efforts do not go unrecognised.
Thank you to the other State Bowls Bodies who have conveyed their condolences and offered support.
As a mark of respect, the Ballarat District Bowls Division has cancelled its round of Midweek Pennant scheduled for Monday, October 16.
