Welcome Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club

by Team BV

Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club’s amalgamation is complete, with new synthetic bowling greens opened recently at the bowls club’s new site.
Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Graeme Bridge was involved in the official proceedings, conducted by Tocumwal’s President Chris O’Connell and Mayor Matt Hannan.
The new greens will be named the Allan Seamer Green and Don Baguley Green – the official naming ceremony conducted by the club’s Pam Van Huizen and Matt Hannan.
Bowls Victoria’s Mr Bridge and Bowls Victoria President Barbara Gilbert recently toured through the new club.
The upgrade to the entrance, with the club’s amalgamated name taking pride of position, has commenced and the changes to the gaming room have not only made for a more comfortable space but have also provided much-needed room in the main club for extra seating.
Next stages are finalising the exit of the bowls club from Adams Street, and in May-June building a new car park will commence.
Tocumwal GBC Chief Executive Officer Craig Smith says the club expects to complete all the developments and en-hancements on budget, by the end of the financial year, so the club can benefit and enhance its programs into 2018.
The club is already off to a great start on-green, with Jenny O’Connor winning the State Novice Women’s Singles Championship in April at 2017 State Champions Week.
Under the tutelage of coach Pam Van Huizen, O’Connor beat June Richardson in the final played at Bendigo East Bowling Club.
